cb750 hardtail frame great find tonight
« on: October 26, 2012, 07:56:05 PM »
so this last weekend i was fueling up the chopper when this fellow approaches me and says "hey man i got a paughco hard tail frame for sale,if your interested". i said "yeah" so i finally go look at it tonight. well it turns out to be a amen hard tail for a cb750. so bought it i was very excited, now i got both amen savior and amen hard tail.i was planning on buying the frame anyway to slap something in it and resell it, but now I'm forced to keep it.i just sold my damn 10 over forks to dergs713 on here. but i still have my 4 overs so i think i'm going to the bobber style with this one.

This is what I have for inspiration. Made by dime city cycles, I've contacted them about building me the frame, I'll see if they can just bend the new tube steel, and give some good tack welds. I'm going to bring it back home and do all the finish welding, and building.

Nice find!  I've always love the Amen frames.  It'll be nice to see how this one starts to shape up.

GOOD FIND!!
Are you going to change the rake on the neck? It looks like +4 forks won't be long enough.
Here's a link to my photobucket of some of the chops I've built

I'm going to leave it like it is. The guy I got it from didn't like the looks of the head tube and welded some plates on it,so those are getting ground off. The look I'm shooting for the 4 over forks will do throw on some apes, solo seat, sportster tank, and  bobbed fender. I might go with a DNA springer. I've always liked the looks of those.

Ran stock on mine with stock AMEN rake. I cut sidestand mount off,  and relocated it to a gusset behind rear lower engine bolt area. You will need. 4-4 pipes that hug the frame, or build a high pipe, like I did.

my son and i was just discussing about the exhaust and what to do. the frame is all around average 1 1/2 " shorter than the savior frame. except the engine mount area but everything else is.if he wasn't out there painting my chopper i would be doing a mock up on it right now.he's digging this hard tail frame a lot so I'm thinking he might wind up with it.he's already got some paint ideas for it.and we are both on the right track for what look we are going after.his generation is really into the bobbers it seems. time will tell.also 754 do you have any pictures of yours

Here is the slammed raked. Version.. Front End looks like it is a bit over 1 under, pushed thru the trees. Note the relocated sidestand mount..

No, I sold it around 85. Kept the motor and carbs, and got 2000.00 bucks for it.
Then I put the 836. In a strutted stock frame, ran that on and off till 07. Rode it to Bonneville, blew it up after I got back.
A few years after I sold the Amen, the guy sold the high pipe back to me..still got them.
