What would be a good price for this?? or should I forget it?
« on: October 26, 2012, 06:51:54 pm »
I'm looking on starting a project(cafe racer). Honda CBs are pretty hard to come by down here in Hawai'i. Do you guys think this would be too much work? How much do you guys think this would be worth?  What would be a fair offer? Or should I forget this?

Thanks for all the help!  8)

Some info and pics.
" I cut the timing chain and released the piston so now the cylinder just needs to be honed and new piston rings and timing chain need to be installed. The title was put into storage so there are no back taxes. I dont have the title with me but I can get it if needed. Included with this bike is a full engine gasket kit, a carb rebuild kit, and a timing chain tensioner. "

Well, it's worthless (imho) without a title and whatever you pay it's another ~$1000+ to make it roadworthy.
Do you have a copy of the Honda Shop Manual or Parts List for your bike? Get one here:

With a title, free would be a good price.  :o Seriously, this bike is a basket-case of the worst kind: the motor has been exposed to the elements with the top-end off. Keep looking, and welcome to the forums!!!

Free is too expensive, run.
It would cost more money to make this nice and running motorcycle them to buy one that allready is.

No Title= NO WAY and I bet he told it ran when he parked it.. Even if he gave it to you, it would take some DEEP pockets for parts/shipping since you are in the middle of the PACIFIC!!

I disagree. I see $400 in parts there. It might take a little while, but for free.. I bet you could sell that seat for $80 in the blink of an eye.. then it's already been worth it. Clocks $30. Wheels, if straight and relatively rust free $25/ea... Signals $15/set.. Disc brake setup.. etc.

The guy said he could get the title. I would take it for free for parts if I could sell them local or if I had one.
Dave have you been talking to that man on the moon again? :D

Hey Kurowah, steer clear of that bike. NOT worth it.

There was a project (titled) XS650 for sale a few days ago for a reasonable price, but it definitely needed some work. There's  cb750 on there now for 5900 (lol) and there's no way that guy is going to get that. If you're interested in a project I know a guy who may have a few. If you're looking for a finished bike (more expensive obviously) I know a guy selling one (if he still has it).

Awesome. Someone from Hawaii!! :)  Hey Dimitri13.
The truth is that I don't know too much about motorcycles.  But my friend who works with cars and I thought it'd be fun to work on a project together.

Don't really want a finished bike, want a bike that we can call our own! or maybe just a nice stock bike.

You need to research the 'no title' issue. Not necessarily for this bike, but for any potential purchase with that warning.

In some places no title = no problem. But in others, like Illinois where I live, no title = parts bike as it is virtually impossible to obtain a title if the seller was not the last registered owner.

Even if the title was present, $50 would be a generous offer.
