CB550K Intake Boots
« on: July 05, 2006, 01:33:16 PM »
Page 6 of the microfitch lists 19 as a complete chamber. Im just needing the four boots that connect the air cleaner to the carb bodies. Without a part number, what does one do?

I see a few of the carb-to-intake boots but not the carb-to-air cleaner box rubber deals. One guy has the intake side boots described as the air cleaner side but has the correct Honda part number. These rubber intake tracts I'm needing fit into the plastic air box part. Then slip over the carburetor inlets. Honda's parts breakdown does not show these intake rubbers as sepparate items. Looks like a person must buy the whole box. Just thought maybe someone else had been through this problem before and had found a solution besides buying the airbox unit.

They dont come seperate from Honda BUT www.davidsilverspares has had some made for the 500 and 550 K1, K2 These do not fit the 77/78 K3 to the best of my knowledge
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

i need these as well.  i found the *ahem* rubbers you mentioned above... they're listed in the pattern spares section for the cb500.  do you know if these fit the stock box for a '76 550k?
thanks,

The chamber with those boots has been discontinued. Honda doesn't offer just the boots so I guess the '78 is out. I'd rather not install sepparate K&N filters on this bike. Cost being one factor, water getting in the engine if the bike gets caught outside in the rain is another. I ride to work on occasion. Predicting rain in Kansas will never be absalute. I wonder if a guy could fabricate some small hose, like that used on turbocharger tubing, would work. Maybe cut the lip off the intakes where they pass through the chamber so a good seal would be assured around the hose. Clutching at straws here.....
