1975 Cb400F center stand trouble
« on: November 03, 2012, 11:38:58 AM »
It doesn't hit the stopper on the exhaust and so it unhooks the spring. I've got all the parts they just don't line up I guess. I have pictures but I can't post links yet. Anyone have clear pics of how their center stand it set up and the exhaust and all that so I can compare it to mine and see what's out of place? Thanks

Stand on my cb350f flaps about even with new spring!  It all seems ok.

Any tips?

Is it the hook/pivot area you're not sure on or the stopper perhaps being in the wrong area?

Here's a photo of the hook area. Hard to get a decent photo of that area so if you can give me some more information about your issue and possibly a photo I might be able to help more.

It's hard to tell in your photos, but given that it's a pretty fixed system if it's mounted on the pivot correctly, it must be bent. It looks like it just clears the tire, which is certainly wrong.

By the look of the non-stock paint on the spring, it wouldn't surprise me if it's had some damage.

I'd either bend it out so it hits the stopper and clears the tire, or buy a used part to replace it.

Hope this helps,
Rick.

I have a spare 400f center stand should you need one.

You know that would make a lot of sense... Hahaha. I'll see about taking it off and getting it back into shape maybe. This spring was tight now that I think about it. It seems like it'll do the job though. If I can't get this back into shape I'll probably buy your spare. I like having a solid center stand for work and those unstable days... Haha
Just in case I do wanna get a better spring. Anyone got a pic or the measurement or know a good place to get one?

The C shape piece was modified by me!  Drilled new hole and shortened it. Made new stopper and bracket attached to foot peg because I fitted 4 into 1. Seems to have fixed problem.
