Erick (EBCB) gave me a call last week and wanted to contribute more to the project.  Cant say no to that!  It amazes me how eager people are to help out others.  Learning a lot of life lesson on this project.  He just made one to test fitment with.  We made it nice and solid to retain strength, but Im worried it will block too much airflow to the head.

I suggest that we mill some fins/ holes into that puppy if you're concerned about heat retention. The aluminum should transfer heat a lot faster than the OEM steel flanges, so it should work out pretty well.

And it looks a lot cooler, too! Plus, I have this huuuuuuge hunk of 6061 in a 3" diameter bar to get rid of....

Yes, lots..... was really busy two weeks ago, and didn't get a chance to recoup over the weekend.  This will have to be done in a couple posts..... I would hate to crash the server on a monday  ;D

It was decided, after a suggestion from my buddy Chris Balich, that the best option for space and flow would be to weld the throttle body directly to the intercooler end tank.  So a plate was made and tacked onto it.

Then took an evening away from my project to lend a hand to my good friend, Chris Kellar.  He has had an ongoing cl350 project that needs some tlc.

I decided the first mill project would be some new front motor mounts.  Started off with making some for practice to iron out the details before trying to make the final ones.

Now for the real deals!  With help from Bean, the pregnant PorterBilt shop cat.

So we got invited to the Water by the Bridge car show (put on by TeamEuroTrash.com) in louisville, to have the bike in a Garrett turbo dealers booth.  Couldnt pass that opportunity up!  Seems a bit odd to prepare for a car show using an angle grinder, saws all, and tig  8)  This was the night before the show, had a pretty interesting week, which ounce I get this up to date I will elaborate more on.  First up was to redo the turbo placement to make a better path for the air into the turbo.

Ethan Stiles (PorterBilt) always eager to help.

Then time to rake the new frame.

Some manifold welding and making header clearance.

After a late late night, we were up at 4am to load up and meet with everyone else that was going.  Then off we were for the ~2 hour drive down.  Show went good.  Had a blast looking around and finding inspiration.  Bike seemed to get a decent amount of interest!

And we came home to 5 brand new kittens that PorterBilts shop cat "Bean" finally popped out.  Only one has a tail!  ;D

Well, it might be a little while.  We will call this the "press release"   ;D I posted this on facebook about a week ago.

"In the beginning of the project I was approached by a person, who will remain anonymous, about wanting to be a part. I'm not exactly the wealthiest person, so this person suggested they help fund the bike build. Having someone with that much invested was a risk, but a risk I felt I should take, so it was decided that we would work together. They would provide money to help speed up the process, in exchange for owning the bike in the end, while I handled building it. It was decided a few weeks ago, based on differing project goals/expectations, that we should part ways. As I have mentioned, projects always have a way of trying to shake you off, but it is your determination that will make it all worth while in the end. So, right now, Must~Dache is on hold until I can come up with $4000 to pay off the investor and own the bike and parts for myself.

After speaking with friends, I have a plan in the works that will satisfy me for the time being and hopefully get the flats bike back, so work can resume. I am still going to finish the bike, but I cant say for sure when we will actually make it out to the flats. My filthy mustache will also remain, until I get a land speed record......sorry for those that have to see it on a regular bases."

So thats where the project sits as of this moment.  It will get finished, Its just uncertain as to when I will be able to get out to Utah.  Time will tell.  Im happier now, and a lot of unnecessary stress has been lifted.

I have built a few customer bikes and have felt the pressure.............Money and skill..........Money and common sense...........Money and personal goals..............................They don't always go hand in hand :( :( :(

I built my Triumph Cub with the help of friends at very modest costs. By the time we got back from the 2011 BUB event at Bonneville I had about $7500 invested...........which was about $2000 more than I had at the time...........so I sold a bike from my crowded garage.

Now I am investing a few $$$$ into a new motor and partial streamlining...........and my same 3-man crew is ready to make the trip this summer.  I have a one-owner '69 die-cast CB750 getting ready to be offered for sale to fund this trip and.............

THEN I WILL START BUILDING A CB750 MOTOR for 2014 ;D ;D ;D

I totally agree. I have been trying for years to figure out how to do work within my passion and make money. Getting closer to figuring it out, but not quite yet.

Sounds very familiar. I couldnt hit a budget if my life depended on it! Lol. It's nearly impossible to account for everything. I have been racking my brain as to what I could sell off.

35 years of racing have taught me that there's no such thing as building or racing a vehicle on a budget.  You stop spending when you just can't spend any more.  Until that point, there's always something else "needed".

Who would be interested in helping a fellow passionate person pursue his dream?

I NEED YOUR INPUT!  If I build the street bike version of "Must~Dache" and sold t-shirts, hats, stickers, etc with the chance to win the bike after its completed, how many of you would be on board?  Its a chance for me to thank everyone that has supported and helped, by doing exactly what I love.  To make this a reality I need to gauge how many people would be on board.  Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated!

I present to you, "Cookie Duster"  :o

A racer friend of mine said "You can come out of racing with a small fortune... If you go in with a big fortune."

Good luck, brother.

Is there any source for a 4-into-4 exhaust for a CB350-4?  I found a MAC 4-into-1 but really nothing else.

Pipemasters or Benjie's would probably be able to make something for you, but it would be made to order & hence pricey.

As pointed out, very much depends on what your prepared to spend.  Swarbrick in the UK can supply 350/4 down pipes, and open megas.  http://swarbrick-racing.co.uk/  They supplied the pipes for my 550/4 in my avatar.

Beautiful stuff...  Thanks for your responses.  I'd not run across DavidSilverSpares.  Do these double the value of the bike? ::)  I think I'd have to run the carbs rich.  Turning one of these pipes blue would make me sad.
