Old Newb from upstate NY
« on: September 15, 2012, 07:11:36 AM »
Hello to the forum,

I am obviously new here. But not new to bikes or vintage bikes. Current have 3 vintage Hondas, S90, CB160 and CL77, all rideable and all get ridden. Also have a few Brits and one HD knuck. Currently in the process of assembling a '66 T120R that I'm restoring.

I have always wanted a CB750 from the day they came out. Drooled over the first model to hit the local showroom (JAF Honda in Schenectady, NY) more than I care to admit. But never had the cash to get one.

Well, not to jinx the deal, but hopefully, I'll soon be the owner of a '71 that is running and just about all there. Original exhaust and airbox are off the bike but there. Original tank still has original paint, but bit dent. Tank on the bike has a small dent. Both are rust free according to the owner, who appears to be a stand up guy who is starting out a new business and has no time to ride. Goal is to bring her back to original or as close to original as I can. Owner says odo has 80K miles on it, but I suspect this is an anomoly from a repair. Looked at a Beemer this summer that had a local shop fix the speedo and the odo went from 20K to 80K. Or the speedo could be a replacement. Engine noise and overall condition should give me an idea.

So, this looked like the most promising site for info, tips, pitfalls, etc.. I'll share what I learn with others as well as help with troubleshooting problems if I can. Looking forward to participating, learning and sharing.

Hopefully the next time I post, I'll have added the CB 750 to the herd.

regards,
Rob

Howdy!  :)
You're in the right place for CB750 info. Post some pix when you get the bike.
Do you have a copy of the Honda Shop Manual or Parts List for your bike? Get one here:

Welcome from downstate NY. Where upstate are you?

But we were boys, and boys will be boys, and so they will. To us, everything was dangerous, but what of that? Had we not been made to live forever?
