Life before computrs . . . PC's anyway.
« on: November 07, 2012, 10:26:32 AM »

`

Memory was something that you lost with age.

An application was for employment.

A program was a TV show.

A cursor used profanity.

A keyboard was a piano.

A web was a spider's home.

A virus was the flu.

A CD was a bank account
.
A hard drive was a long trip on the road.

A mouse pad was where a mouse lived.

And if you had a 3 1/2 floppy..........

Well, you just hoped nobody found out.

Certificate of Deposit i think.  You can still buy them i think.  They're like bonds.  Buy one, can cash it in after X years at a fixed interest rate.

Nope.  I meant CD in banking terms.  They're kind of like modern GIC's.  I looked it up.

CD means certificate of deposit. basically means you give the bank money for a set time 30 days, 90 days, 6 months, or up to 5 years. they pay you interest based on that money but you forfeit some interest if you pull it out early.

it is similar to a savings account, but with a higher interest rate, but the money is not available immediately.
