Is the 1971-1973 CB500F Tank size the same as the 1976 CB550K?
« on: November 22, 2012, 11:07:13 PM »
Here is why I ask. I want to put the black & white decal from this website: http://knkcycles.com/honda-cb500.htm  (The 1971-1973 CB500F decal) on my 1976 CB550K. I basically want to paint the entire tank black, but use the decal to put a little separation in it. I just want to know if the decal will fit or not. If it is "slightly" different size, do you think I could still improvise and fit it on the tank?

There is no such thing as a factory CB500F in the USA.  They were badged as CB500 Four and they are CB500K models.  They shared the same tank shape as the CB550K through 1976.  But, there are differences in fuel valves and their fitment.
