so i picked up a cb350f that sat for 10 years, after which a new PO purchased it 2 years ago for a resto but that stalled too. i rescued the poor thing, got her started and checked shifting. all is well, so this project is a "go".
bike is complete and needs a full mech/appearance resto, and came with at least $200 worth of new parts in a box.
so far I’ve dressed the points/set the gaps; snipped back the plug leads and installed new NGK plugs, de-racked, cleaned/polished the carbs and installed new jets/o-rings/floats; rebuilt the petcock; had 2 heli-coils installed; checked all electrics/charging system (all ok), changed the oil and started; checked oil flow to the cam journals, and checked compression when warm (130/125/135/140 – yippie!).
pretty recently I disassembled the front end down to the triples and started the sanding/painting and resto stuff.
while waiting on delivery of new fork boots, fork seals, drag bars and caliper seal I’ll chop the front fender and prep the caliper/mount assy.
my overall plan is to remove everything that doesn’t make the bike go or stop, with the end project being barely street legal (no blinks needed in vt).
along with being pretty light she’ll end up with a bump seat and rearsets, and if funds present themselves she’ll get a drilled disc and braided lines too.
