Tail light quit working - CB750F1
« on: November 08, 2012, 01:17:12 PM »
My buddy noticed last weekend that my tail light is out. Brake light works, but running light does not. Replaced the bulb - still nothing. Likely a connection came undone?

Measure voltage at the brown wire.  There are connections under the housing and another under the seat.  Also, the ignition switch could be defective as the brown wire feeds from there.  Not sure if your model has a fuse for the tailight...Larry

You are welcome.  Most common problem I see is the connection under the seat coming apart...Larry

So I can unplug the brown wire @ the tail light - brake light still works, tail light doesn't work. Cleaned the connector and reattached - still doesn't work. What do I check next?

You need to check to make sure you have voltage at that wire.  If you do not have a multimeter(working on vintage Hondas having one is mandatory) go to Harbor Freight and buy an inexpensive one-should be less than $10...Larry

One of the 7A fuses is for the taillight!  If it's not the fuse or a connector, it may be bad contacts in the ignition switch (that's how the 12V gets to the fuse).

Guess this will have to do for now. Fix it right this weekend :)
