Everything Seemed To Go Wrong, On This Trip!
« on: November 08, 2012, 09:08:39 AM »

First off, Michelle and I were supposed to be going back to Arkansas, to pack and load up to come back to Georgia. Well, circumstances caused me to ended up going back and taking a buddy. So I thought, no problem. I'd rather my Wife could have gone, but this was still a good deal. So, we head out and get back there. We get some thins taken care of, concerning my Dad and make a great showing on getting the yard work done (thanks mostly to my buddy). Then, we head on up to Greenwood, to drop off a cat, to another friend, try to load up Christmas stuff, try to make sure my Dakota is ready for the trip and prepare to head out. So, time really flies when you don't need it to and we ended up getting mostly done, before we head out. We end up not getting back on the road til several hours later than planned and had a heater hose blow, only about a block from a parts store. Took care of that and headed out again. By the time we got to Memphis area (still in Arkansas), the water pump gave out! So, we start looking for a parts house. Found an O'Reilly's, no pump! Found an AutoZone, no pump! Found an Advance Auto Parts and they have 1, but there are 2 different pumps. We didn't realize that and had to go back and check my pump, to see if it was the same. It was. So then, I tried to pay for the pump, with my debit card and it wouldn't work! I had the money there, but I didn't usually use that card much and with all the activity that the card holder had put a block on my card, as they thought the activity was suspicious (activity being in Georgia,at several locations, then in Alabama and Arkansas and then back to Memphis), so I had to pay cash and then we weren't going to have enough money to buy gas and eats, to get back to Georgia. We slept in the car and truck, as we couldn't get a motel room. Couldn't find any way to get money, to take care of things and froze our butts off! Used my phone, to find a Cash Advance place and found that they didn't open til 10 am and finally I thought about the card company and called them, to find out that there WAS a block on the card. So then, we went through a series of questions, to prove I was the card's owner. Then the block was lifted and we were back in business. Then, as we were in a different part of Memphis, that I had ever been in, we like to have never got straight on how to get out of there. I have a GPS, but it kept acting haywire. Finally, we got back on track and got in  late on Tuesday night (should have been back Monday night). That trip REALLY threw me for a loop and between that and other things that have come up, I regret to say that we are not going to be able to make it down to Valdosta, far as I can tell now. I REALLY regret this, as I have been trying to get to where I could meet up with Sam (and whoever else, from the SOHC4, that I could), for several years now and once again, I am coming up short.

On another note, it looks like we are going to be moving to Arkansas and taking my Dad and family and going to my Dad's Place. Gotta say that I have not EVER had such a time, on a trip, as we had this time! Sure was glad to finally get home!!!!!

All you can do sometime is shake your head at it all.

Yeah, seems like THIS trip, made up for the others that went so well. Guess I was overdue, huh? So, now that I have had "The Nightmare Trip", maybe I will be able to have some smooth sailing the nest few times? Hopefully.  ;)
