Test shifting by hand seems fine, shifts and locks into gears while turning the front sprocket.  May be few times felt like false neutral but that could be because using my weak  hand to turn sprocket???

Or may be I should have my mind set for a 3rd tear down...hmm....





That does seem normal.   Good luck with it..

motor is ready to go back on the frame.  hopefully i can get it back up running again this weekend, just can't wait!  the HM300 sounded so good the last 50 miles :)

Lifting frame up to get motor out was a chore, especially when front and rear ends still attached, and doing it one man show. 

So, doing it differently this time.  Got the bike frame lifted high suspending on the sawhorse, then lifted the engine up into the frame.  Much easier

Got the bike all assembled, started right up like nothing ever happened, but then I remembered that I only have 2 quarts of oil in the motor, so didn't take it out for a test ride.   

Also installed rear blinkers, will take it out for test ride when I get my oil, hopefully no more issue with the tranny.  then transfer title into my name, register and insurance, and should be back on the road!

Yes, I can use tool tray so I can have some tools under the seat.  Was riding this morning, and bike drop cyl 2 and 3, turned out to be slow jets fell to bottom of bowls.  I was at swap meet parking lot while checking this and an older guy on Harley let me borrowed his leatherman tool.  That was a good experience too, lol

Courtesy of Stevo, got this rusty tool tray in the mail last week.  It cleaned up nice.





Then few coats of rust reformer paint all looks good.  Scavenged tools out of my tool carts

Correct bolts are hard to find! Fender bolts will do for now, lol

Not the price I wanted to pay, but exactly the seat I wanted.  After all, period correct in fairly great shape for its age.  Mounted it on with plunger.  Perfect fit.

I had to replace both the shifter forks and shifter drum as the drum showed wear along the grooves.

If I recall correctly, Remove the neutral switch on the bottom of the case, the drum should slide right out.
