Replacing exhaust valves/guides entirely necessary?
« on: November 09, 2012, 12:04:06 AM »
Bike is a 74 550.

The engine will be hot street (no track racing because we don't have one). I'm trying to work on a budget, but I have no set limit, but I would like to keep costs down.

My planned upgrades so far:
Dynoman hipo package (big bore, 358b cam, springs, clutch, studs, head gasket)
Porting by MReick

My question is replacing the exhaust valves/guides entirely necessary? Talking with MReick, oversized INTAKE valves were recommended (but not exhaust). If it's not necessary, I may skip that and use some of that "saved" money to go with oversized intakes. If it is necessary, I'll be "saving" money by sticking with regular intake valves.

Yep that is what he has all those measuring tools for. ;D ;D Your sending him the head. Did you really have to ask :o This just doesn't make sense that is what the man does. Hell if you think we know better send us the head. Pick who ever gives you the answer you want. NEXT Where are my meds. ;D

I've decided to just go with replacing everything (with stock sizes).
