Andrews A cam question please..........
« on: November 12, 2012, 09:31:17 AM »
Picked up a pretty nice Andrews A grind cam off ebay recently.
My research shows this cam with duration of 240 and lift of 345.  Seems mild.
Can anyone tell me if I need to match up valve springs with this
cam if installed in a stock 74 750? Or an 836?  If yes, where can I go to get the valve springs?

Anyone got a set of springs matched to this cam for sale?

Thanks,   Stickman

I am just basing this on experience with a similar Megacycle A-grind.................standard springs and keepers are OK.............a little insurance on the cheap is to use the springs and keepers from the F2-F3 motors.

How high do you want to review it?  After I cammed my 836 (hotter than that cam), it saw 10,500 daily. Why would you not want to control valve float?

The stock retainers and keepers are OK. I'd use aftermarket springs like Kibblewhite. I wouldn't use the Kibblewhite maximum installed height as it is still to much spring IMO. I'd go with installed height of 1.380 or so.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I was hoping this cam is mild enough for stock springs.
I will use stock springs to determine if the Andrews A cam is a keeper.
Looks like I need to secure a  Cycle X frame kit
