I know there are a number/alot of threads on this already but I thought I would attack it from a new owner's point of view.
Basically I have bought my lovely 1976 CB400F but the wiring and some of the electrical parts are shot. Therefore I am going to try and rebuild the wiring loom.
I am going for a really simple stripped bike and therefore all I want are the following: Horn (necessary for MOT, otherwise would lose it)
Headlight (I am going to try and leave it with Off/On/Highbeam capability in a new switch housing)
Stop button (For piece of mind mainly)
Brake light
light for speedo housing
It is a kickstart only bike and therefore the only wiring components I need are:Combined regulator/rectifier from David Silvers
Gel batter from EBay
Contact Braker Assay (mine was rusted otherwise I would have used stock) David Silvers
Original Coils and alternator
Fuse Box (using the original, not sure if I should replace it or not?)
I am doing away with:Neutral light, oil pressure sensor/light, tachometer, indicators and winker, starter solenoid
I am hoping it will give a really clean looking bike, am also thinking about a remote front brake master cylinder and an internal throttle but that is another issue and something I will write up in the bike build thread.
So I have purchased the parts listed above as well as a soldering Iron, heat shrink wrap, wire in lots of colours and a multimeter.
I am going to attempt it this weekend and will try and document it as best as I can with photo's etc.
I hope it is useful to anyone thinking of doing something similar, I have not electrical background and am using the CB400F wiring diagram available from Hondaman so wish me luck and tell me if there is something I have missed!
Thanks!
