Stator rotor testing
« on: November 16, 2012, 12:41:28 PM »
Does anyone know how to test the resistance on a 1978 cb550 stator rotor. The 650 and 750 have a plate on the end which is easy to check but how do I determine if the rotor is good or bad on my bike?  I have two of these 550s and I am unable to remove either of the rotors from the bikes. I have taken an impact to the nut on the end of the pressed shaft and that still won't loosen it. I know how to press it out once I loosen the nut but I can't get the damn nut loose on either of the bikes. Thanks.

There is no resistance test on the rotors of any of the sohc fours, except the 650. They are basically a couple of lumps of steel welded together, and don't go "bad".
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I had just read some and watched some YouTube videos on guys testing the rotor. Thanks.
