New 'sylvanian builder
« on: November 15, 2012, 08:30:38 PM »
Hey guys!

Just wanted to say hello.  I've been lurking, reading, researching for some time and I finally decided to make a profile.  I'm a new street rider.  Been toying around on dirtbikes, snowmobiles an jet skis since my teens when I did a safety course and ended up not being able to scrape together Catherine for a bike as I was entering college.  Took a basic set of machining classes out of curiosity - well outside of my major - and learned a lot...which just peaked my curiosity.  Now I have a good job, a little bit of spending money and a buddy who is a mechanic at heart.  He got into SOHCs and got me really excited about the opportunity to build my own.

I picked up a rusty 76 cb750k that had last been inspected in 8, 18k original miles and good compression.  I'm looking to do a nice cafe, but I've already had some hiccups during the tear down.  Crumbled intake port on the 2nd cylinder, messy carbs, and a lot of new parts to buy, but making some headway with parts necessary for my frame mods.  Going for a dual caliper front and a DOHC swing arm earned me a second frame ( 0-2 bikes in less than a month).  Looking for ideas and suggestions for a k8 as a second build to either offset final costs of first build or setup a second bike with a different style.

Keep an eye out for my build thread! P.
