Big Grizzly/Grizzly CR750 Reconstruction and build up
« on: December 23, 2012, 07:25:09 pm »
I thought about putting this in the resto forum but seems better here. Please let me know if I was incorrect.

After two years digging through the piles of parts laying around the house, speaking to some knowledgeable people, its time to get started.

I (with lots of help) will be simultaneously rebuilding the two of the CR750's I have. One will be rebuilt using its original parts from the 70's, while the other will be modernized slightly and be constructed with less focus on authenticity.

This is where it gets a little confusing for casual observers: I have a fully assembled, running condition, CR750 exactly as it rolled off the track in 2000, which is also nearly identical to how it was in 1972. It is not the same bike although it appears to be and wears much of the same parts.

I also still have the original frame, swingarm, forks, triples, brakes, just to name a few. I even have a nearly new set of the bikes trademark Kimtab snowflake wheels thanks to the Bill B's.

I'm going to transfer all the vintage parts on the runner back to the original frame, the actual frame that campaigned in the 70's. Then BentON is going to help me get the newer of the two into a condition where the bike can be started and run without an act of congress.

With Bill's guidance and the piles of parts my dad left behind it seems that I should have everything I need to make this happen. I am absolutely overwhelmed with his generosity and interest in helping me make this dream of mine a reality.

I'll post pics as progress is made.

Marc, good to see things on the move at last. I remember well when you first joined us when we were discussing your fathers bikes.
Good luck with the rebuilds, I'm sure Billy will be plenty of help.
HAPPY CHRISTMAS.
