Carb Manifolds
« on: November 19, 2012, 01:49:27 PM »
I may have a lead on new Carburetor Manifolds for our CB750A's.  I sent a set of old ones to a shop in Texas that said they can make a mold and produce new ones. Any ideas what a fair price for them would be.  The person I contacted will make a batch of 12 or more.

Well, a set of carb holders for the K/F bikes sells for about $75.

So, maybe a little higher for the A holders.

If they are priced too high, it can just push others to swapping over to K carbs, and get a performance bump as well.

Ya, I've been searching for Carb Manifolds for over a year.  No one has them.  I read all of the Manifold posts on this site.  All the fixes are temp or jerry rigged at best.  Buying and making the mod to fit "K" carbs to the bike would probably cost just as much and still be a jerry rig.  I'm going to order a set.  I'll post how they worked out.

I am currently using a set - also based on new molds of a old/used set - before they stopped making them (ethanol compatibility issue).

Anyway - the molds used to make mine, being based on an old/used set - also had the "grooves/indentations" from the clamps.  In my case, the original clamps could not tighten the new set good enough - I had some air leaks.

If possible, I'd suggest asking if the new molds can be altered to remove the groove caused by all those years of being clamped.  This should be easy to do, as it just removes the ridge/bump in the mold - kind of like porting on a head.  That way, you should be able to re-use your old (or obtain new of the same size) clamps.

Thanks for the advice.  I'll talk with the manufacturer on Monday.

This deal did not work out the manufacture would only do a run of 20 sets, which would cost way to much.
