sci cb550f tires 3.50 front and rear????????
« on: February 02, 2014, 12:39:22 pm »
Thinking of buying sci duro tires and their ad says 3.50 is bigger than the stock 3.25 but it will work well, only thing it does not say is the 550 uses a 4.00 on the back.I don't mind a skinner rear but just wanted to make sure a 3.50 will fit my rim. Thanks

The rim outside rim is 2 3/4 wide any idea on tire sizes for a rim that wide?

I'm pretty sure it'll fit the rim but it may rub against the front mudguard. Back in the late 80's when tyres here still had sizes in inches, I always used to run 3.5 front 4.0 rear tyres on my cb400-4.

When I bought my CB500 secondhand in 1980, it had a 3.50 tyre front (Conti RB2) and a 4.00 (K112) rear, both on standard rims. Although the front tyre did not rub, the next time I needed a new one I went to 3.25 as I fail to see what the advantage of a wider tyre is. Since 3.75 was not available, I've always stayed with 4.00 rear tyres. No problem at all. The standard rear rim can have a 3.50 or a 3.75 or a 4.00 tyre no problem.

Thanks I have a 3.00 on the front (too skinny) and a 4.00 on the rear (too wide) seeing as both rims are the same size I want to run a 3.50 on both, just because I like the look,no other reson.Mario

rim size is measured on the inner spacing.  Also, your rims should be stamped with the standard sizes that deltarider  said in his post...Larry
