The inner end will be held in position by a C clip. The washer is there to hold grease in and also for play adjustment.

Copper tubing protects splines from getting messed up by welding.

Installed and it works. It needs a return spring, not sure where that's gonna go.

I am way behind, spent so much time on the jeeps transmission, this bike was supposed to be on the road by now, but I guess everything takes more time and money than you plan.

You're making progress... I haven't touched my CB750 project for many months.

I made the mistake of picking up another project (CL77), buying a poorly running vintage bike for my wife (CB360 with major carb problems), and spending most of my time prepping my street bike for racing this season.

Sometimes I spend more time trying to decide which project to work on than actually working on any of them

I bought NOS signals and now I am in process of making stems from 303 SS.

Rebuilding wire harness to fit my need. First thing I yanked out was the dumb clutch switch and also neutral signal to starter relay. The relay will have simple ground, no safety sihte for me.
Also pigtail to plug sidecar in needs to be build in.

Anyway, simplify, simplify - Thoreau maybe? I opened up my late K left hand control and cut out all the running light crap. I am using NOS signals with single filament bulb, no need for all those wires.

think you are right on with the Thoreau reference-pretty much the basic premise of Walden Pond...Larry
