The engine is back in, installed carburetors and air box.

The headers went in much easier than the first time, must have moved a bit when installed.

Yeah. Scary too. There was nothing wrong with the transmission. Not sure it will shift this time.

I made an honest woman of her yesterday, she is insured and registered, still needs an inspection.

That's a good feeling to be legal.  I register my bikes as antiques, then no inspection required.

Does VA have anything like that?

Yes it does but since I use it as a daily driver I want regular tags.

Hmm, that makes it look like I have some moral muscles but I am definitely missing those  ;D ;D

After the first ride, the very next day she would not shift again.  I opened her up and checked oil passages by cranking with the cover off.  There was a healthy spray of oil coming out.  After that I blew air through the bearing retainer, again all passages were clean.

I decided on two prong approach, based on recommendation by Hondaman above I poured whole bottle of Rislone in the oil tank (11oz instead of 8oz recommended by manufacturer) and took off the neutral arm stopper (#12) to decrease the drag on the shift drum.

So far so good.  Will run her like this for few hundred miles and try again with the neutral arm installed.

Bike looks good Prokop.   Would look even better with the side bags.

Shoeis would be handy but that old K&G trunk has quite a bit of storage.  You're welcome...Larry

I'm like Stev-o.  I'm interested to see what it would look like with the side bags because I actually like the look of that top bag there.  It's probably the best I've seen on a SOHC.

Problem with Shoei are turn signals, you have to use turn signals in luggage - otherwise it does not fit.

Maybe if find Don Vesco fairing, I will put Shoeis on to complete the look  ;D

Prokop, you need to use a Vetter rather than Vesco to complete "the look" ::)...Larry

Was saying if he decided to put on a fairing a Vetter would be more period correct than a Vesco, actually I windshield would be even more correct...Larry

Doing a go over after a week of riding.  Also will try 125 jets, 120s with needle all the way up are flat around 5500 rpms.

Just little things, the biggest problem so far is a bouncy speedo, don't really feel like topping up the pot, seems to be involved and precise  >:(

So the Red with 40 idle and 120 main jets was idling fine, but around 5000 rpms there was significant hole, not just butt dyno feeling, real hickup.

The needles were already all the way up (5th notch) , decided I need 125s.  I estimated that I should go with needle in the middle and 125 and it would be just perfect.  Got it all done on Saturday, confident she is in good shape, didn't bother test start/ride her.

Fast forward to Monday morning, 7AM.  In full gear, started her up and she would not move, rev up in idle, nothing.  Only the idle was there.  Dropped the helmet, jacket, gloves, started wrenching.

Set the  I needles all the way down (1st position) and that was quite the surprise.  She idled right at 3000 rpms  ;D and there was no way to knock her down, nothing.

Pulled it apart again - BTW, jetting K0 carburetors with breadbox filter is kids play compare to this.  On K0 I can move needles up and  down with carburetors still installed - to realize that the needle sticks in the top jet. The needle taper was too big for the top jet, slides were staying up, she was reving like crazy - you got the picture.

Luckily I had decent set of needles in my stash.  Set needles on the first position, took her up and down the road, all is well.  Geared up again, 3 hours later, smelling of gasoline, took off.  30 miles on local roads, she revs easily, accelerates as expected, plenty of power.
