New toy- '97 Valkyrie standard
« on: November 25, 2012, 03:47:00 PM »
I've been lusting for a Valkyrie ever since they came out. Finally found one last weekend (drove from San Diego to Mesa, AZ to pick it up). This machine is absolutely cherry, and it just flies. Handles amazingly well for such a big bike. That's it for me insofar as bike aquisitions go. 3 bikes now, and garage space is now pretty much maxed out..... I've also got a '00 Goldwing for long distance touring, in addition to my well loved '74 550 which is just pure fun. Merry Xmas to all.

Those Valks make a super duty CRUISER if you wanted to dress it for the occasion. A BATWING fairing with RADIO/Speakers, bags , cargo box it would look like an OLD HD  full dresser but 4 more cylinders and BETTER bike!!!

My wife's Drunkle (Drunk Uncle) has one in his garage, a 2001 with less than 3K on it, touring package with all the fairings and bags.  He hasn't had a driver's license in close to 10 years, too many DUIs.  He wont part with it, I ask almost every time I see him.  It just sits there under a cover in his garage.  Every couple of years he'll call up the local Honda dealer to freshen it up, pick up and delivery.  Someday his failing liver will catch up with him and maybe it will be mine.

I had one and loved it.

Just a heads up, if you change the carburetor springs from an Interstate model the throttle responce is fantastic.  ;) Interstates used lighter springs due to the extra weight. Only costs a couple of bucks.  8)

Well worth it!
