Help Identifying This Seat
« on: November 23, 2012, 08:42:13 PM »
Thinking of buying this seat but the owner and I aren't sure if it's an original 400F seat.

What do you guys think?

Buy it for $20, if it fits, lucky find.  Impossible to tell what it fits without measurements.  Even then, seats were changed from year to year and model to model.  Mostly hinge and latch locations as well as subtle changes in pan shape.  Good luck.

Heres a link
 Honda Product Codes

http://oldmanhonda.com/MC/HCodes.html

based on the "377" on the bottom of the seat, I would say it is a 400F seat.

It has been recovered for sure and does not have the contour of the 400f seat but it may have been repadded when it was recovered.  377 code, as stated, should make it a 400f seat.  The frame it is on looks to be 400f...Larry

How much is he asking?  Is he local, if not, shipping would be at least $20.

Why not buy a new one from DSS for $168?

Mike ; I added 3 more pics of the seat to the flickr page. I'm in agreement with the others since I've checked out a few Restored bikes pics that I have, that seat has to have been recovered. There are No buttons like you talked about and No "HONDA" across the back. But as I said originally the seat (outer part) isn't in real good shape but the pan should be fine.    ...cougar...

Thanks for the responses and the Honda parts code page, that'll come in handy.

So by the number on the bottom it is a 400F pan but I agree I think not only has it been recovered but the foam looks to have been altered, because it doesn't look like the shape of the stock seat.

The new one from DS sure looks nice doesn't it.
