CB750K4 stock carb clamps - loose

Hi all,

I did search quite a bit for this on the forum but can't seem to find anything.  I am rebuilding a K4 and am nearly done. I bought new carb boots (carb to engine) from David Silver Spares, and upon reassembly, am finding that even clamped all the way down, the stock clamps "bottom out" before they are 100% tight.  Has anyone experienced this?  Worry is air leaks of course.

I'd like to keep my stock clamps if possible as they're in good shape.  But nobody's are on the loose side, even tightened all the way up?  I am wondering if the david silver spares repro items are slightly thinner in design.

Then why not get the real thing, right from the source, item number 10: http://www.servicehonda.com/parts.html


Part number: 16223-KS5-000


The original ones get stretched out. I bought new ones a couple years ago, tightened up much better well before "bottoming out".

Unless your trying to go "Concourse" restoration that's going to be for show, go with the clamps that "madmtnmotors" gave you in his first post. The clamps "Javahut" sells are FIRST class! Stainless steel, slight roll on edges (No cutting the boot) and since they're stainless they'll always look good. Good fellow to deal with as well as buy from. Just my opinion.   ...cougar...

That's kind of how I was looking at it, a set of eight clamps for $16 with the first link, or a set of eight clamps for around $75 from Honda...

I always replace those clamps with better units on all my bikes. Between the old rubber shrinking etc they usually do not seal real well.I keep the old ones around incase I maybe sell the bike they can go with it.

I too bought them from DS far to big ended up using the clamps for the air filter tubes do go on sweet just dont over tighten them,
Had no problems.Now I have 8 new ones gathering dust.
