Well it looked pretty bloody impressive before it went BANG Tiny! What caused that? Lean mixture? Cheers, Terry.
Yeah Terry, during the initial carb(s) setup, I "tuned by feel" (and my 'ol increase petrol jets by 2,2+ a bit for safety method) I had no forced induction experience and should have known better ?
Well, that didn't work, but it was close, felt great until I hit 6th, then it nosed over, so I cut it, and cruised back to where the car was parked.
I had melted an earth strap off #4 Iridium plug, but the engine passed the "thumb in plug hole and crank it over test,,,,,,,, In hindsight, I think I had a developing crater in #4 piston (that was with a 550 main)
Further test rides were better, with 580 main being almost right, so I went the safe way and upped the main to 600,,DAMN that was a GOOD run !
Saltside I ran with a 640 main, the bike didn't like it much, didn't clear until I hit 4th, so it wasn't lean, I think it was just too much for the weakened piston to handle ?
With the new gauges, I'll know when I'm getting near the scarey zone and ride accordingly, until the last run, then I'll not look at any damn gauges, just tuck'n'go
