I miss this place
« on: December 02, 2012, 03:23:56 pm »
those of you that remember me or have tried to forget me, my re-reading of post with UE and
the lot of you has made me realize how special this forum was then. Even though most of my
post are long lost, with the leaving the forum and then coming back and all, I still think this
is one of the best forums I've been on. If I still owned a 750 SOHC i'd be on here more now,
but right now there isn't one in my garage so till then I'll just check in occasionally, I know some
of you will be thrilled.............if I stay away.

Robert, I am sure that you have a lot you can contribute from you past experiences with the CBs.

Nonsense, Rock.  Why would you think anyone wants you to go away?  I get the nostalgic thing.  I also miss UE, and many others, some of which are no longer with us, and some that just disappeared.  Given the nature of our common activity, it makes you wonder.

Oh yeah.  Make some room for a SOHC in that garage!

thanks all, it's been a nice trip down memory lane re-reading lots of the post. I've also gotten a lot of UE's photos and quips and saved them to a file.

I'll check in more often and perhaps we'll actually meet up on the roads sometime. I've met some of the best people on
motorcycles and not just hondas. ;) Motorcyclist are special folks. I suspect it's because we've all been bucked off a few times and that's taught some of us a bit of humility, others like myself will be bucked off several more times before it sinks in. I'm just sort of slow that way.

BTW, I thought I'd already posted this on here but can't find it now. So here it is or here it is again if you find the first. I've started a Face Book Page, Uncle Ernie's Motorcycle World. Will start with a lot of pictures and words from past post that Uncle Ernie made. Then we'll hope to carry on with our own thoughts on Motorcycling, Zen, meeting up events, etc........ email me or pm me and we'll set it up on FB. It's an open group.

Best to you all!

Hey Mick, still have the old Duc. Even painted her back original colors and
put on a few more bits to restore her. Re-chromed the original contis too. Here she is now,

That is just beautiful Rob, you shouldn't have too much trouble selling her, its a shame though, that would be a great bike to have occupying some space in the shop and for those nice early Sunday morning rides .... ;)

Hey thanks for the interest in the GT y'all. I really didn't jump in here to try and sell it.
But if you are interested pm and be sitting down for the price. These old GT's have really
increased in value the last few years and show no signs of stopping.  I really have enjoyed
riding it around and I've even gotten use to switching from modern shift to proper shifting on the right
with a GP pattern, I think the English are responsible for this wrong side shifter. ;)
But, in order to put together the fund raiser and buy a bike to give Marty a ride on (pillon and we'll have
to tie him on now, he's lost the use of his arms pretty much) well the GT will cover all that. That's what I'd hoped
and the only way a po logger could afford to do all this so, that's the reason.

Enough of that, I'm glad to be welcomed back!

I look for the regular posters and your definately a regular here. This place has a technical component and a social one and both are good. Dont be a stranger. Now a days I socialize and parts hunt here more than anything else. Beautiful duck by the way.

the value on these old GT's seems to be steadily climbing every year. One just sold on ebay for 21,000 plus. They are quite fun to ride and in Central Texas you could get in many many many rides. ;)
