On my Mac 4-2 both stands were kept functional with a simple bracket made for center stand to stop chain bounce.
4-1 ?
hope that helps ;D

You mean the center stand ?
If so, mine is long gone. That thing weighed way too much to keep on the bike.
I cant see how a 4 into 1 would effect the sidestand.
A super low hanging 4 into 2 I could see...

hey, I'm looking for the ultimate 4-1 too.

I just recieved MAC TT drag pipes that I ordered over a month ago and I'm horribly disappointed with the quality.  They wiggle at the head when all tightened down.  Besides, there was no info that these things can't be used with the side stand.  My bike's lowered which makes putting it up on the centre stand very difficult.  So back they go... and I'm gonna stay away from anything MAC.

Same goes for a Kerker, but I think I'd like the look of the Jardine better.

I believe the issue with the side sand goes along with the MAC 4 into 4 drag pipes,
not their 4 into 1 (I hope ::) ) I would guess these pipes go right where the stock side-sand lies, thus the problem...

I still can't see how a 4 into 1 with the muffler/cannon on the right side of the bike would anyway effect the sidestand...?

It wouldn't. Unless you put it on upside-down & backwards.  ;D There's an idea: why not do it OCC style and just have your exhaust come up right in front of you? It would keep you warm in the winter!  ::) ::) ;D ;D

Thats a sweet idea.  :D
I was actually thinking about keeping my 4 into 2 , and having the exhaust exit dirctly under my ass.
This way, i would have the worlds first CB750 with a heated seat ::) ;D

Here's a bike that was at this past Mods Vs.Rockers show in the city..

This thing could be heard for blocks... ;D

Good, I think I may go with the mac 4-1.  I pulled into my parents house last week and my father asked how I got there.  He didn't here me pull in on the 550.  So I've since drilled holes in the ends of my rusty 4-4 pipes.  Still not loud, but deeper in tone.

...if you add some tubing and route those pipes over your head backwards, your motor would look like a spitting image of a BMW scooter.....  ;D

i'm getting the image of a harley cafe rider wearing a gas-mask with the exhaust running up into the mask...  ???

The whole episode of trying desperately to find a good replacement 4>1 exhaust for my CB 750 K5 is exhausting  to say the least. I made the decision to have my Aussie made ones (30 years old HANCO now defunct) rebuilt and rechromed.
I had the four exhaust clamps (Donuts) re chromes too.
I then in my madness forgot to get the four hipped bolts chromed they are now SS/ Stainless Steel
"#$%*" do they look great, even though I have not started the beast they should sound as good as they used to be. Maybe the old rusty ones had a secret sound?
Cheers
Dave

Hey Pro_Teal,
If you get some time, post a few pictures of your final product if you moded the mac to gain ground clearance.  ;D

I just sold my CB550 and bought a 78 CB750F so i'm looking for some "I-dears" and im sure any one who read all 7 pages looking for final pics was kinda disappointed!

If you got no pics i'm sure ill see ya around.

I did not read all of the pages, but from what I got out of page 1, I think you should give strong cosiderations to find an old RC Engineering (Russ Collins) header and muffler.  That is THE best sounding exhaust on a CB750 bar none AND has the approz physical dimentions you requested.  I have one.  It is NOT for sale, and I don't have any pics of it right now.  I will have to look inot my old RC literature, but I think it was called something like a Scavenger or something.
