Drive flange removal
« on: December 03, 2012, 10:13:58 PM »
I have searched for information on performing this task but couldn't fine an answer to:drive flange removal - 1978 CB550 K.
The rear hub is in the following state:  bearing retainer ring has been removed, brake assembly removed, and sprocket removed.
Please advise how to remove the drive flange - any and all suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers,

itll be a bit stiff but it will pull out,get some soapy water in where the cush rubbers are to help it slip out.

Thanks for the tip dave500!
I didn't want to damage the flange and was unsure if there were  hidden  fasteners.

When I removed the one from my 650, I just pulled on the sprocket and it came out with a little wriggling.

trueblue:
Thanks for the second option.
If the sprocket had still been attached I may have had the leverage to see some movement in the flange. However the flange seemed rock solid so I used dave500's suggestion (soapy water) and the flange slipped easily out of the housing.
Thanks again.
