Copper plated SOHC valve cover
« on: December 04, 2012, 03:34:18 pm »
I have been wondering how a copper plated SOHC valve cover would look and have seen similar questions around the interwebs, so here is my copper plated valve cover. (hope the pics work)

That looks great but i would clear coat that while it still looks good, it will tarnish very quickly once exposed to the elements.... ;)

I found it at Cycle-X. After talking to Ken I am not sure if he will be making anymore as they seem to be very difficult to produce.

Copper is the first step of chroming. Seems any good chromer should be able to do it??

Looks great. Is it clear coated?

It's not cleared yet but will be soon. I too thought plating a valve cover would be a fairly straight forward process but everywhere I have asked has quoted some ridiculous price or refused to take it on. Maybe some one who is more familiar with plating will chime in with the answer.

Iwould just let it get tarnished, then just polish the easy parts a bit by hand.. Full engine set wood be cool..
