Please contact - online ads
« on: December 08, 2012, 09:53:58 AM »
Why do people not want to disclose the price they are asking for their bikes and rather put "please contact" in their ad. I see that up here all the time. Seems like a waste of time.  I can see if you are selling a $50000 vincent but not a $1000 dirt bike.

My best answer would be, they want an opportunity to really tell you how great the bike is and probably are more comfortable/convincing using verbal rather than written communication.
That and to see how much they can squeeze out of you.

To me "Call for price" has always meant "I'm asking more than it's worth and I want a chance to talk you into buying it".  That may not actually be the case, but that's how I read it, and it's a way to guarantee that I'll never call.

What really gets me is the "custom harley/bike" ads with no pictures. 99% of the time is ends up being the same set of loud mufflers and chrome everything.

It could be they want to sell you something besides what is advertised.
