New Gauge Faces 75 cb750k
« on: December 08, 2012, 03:51:06 PM »
Ok, I went ahead and pulled apart my stock gauges today. Actually easier than I thought, thanks to all the tips on the site!

I have two questions:
1. If I replace the OG bulbs with LED units will I have any issues?
2. If I decide to go with a white face will I need to repaint the off green paint on the inside of the housing?

Thanks!!

I can sell you a set of white overlays on transparent back plates for a good price.  Have the LED lights as well.  Let me know.

racinchase,
i purchased my white gauge face plates(clear plate) from 000egor000 ebay store.  good stuff.
i used blue BA9S LED bulbs, which are a direct fit, and painted the inside housing of my gauges gloss white to clean them up a bit.

I went really slooooooow :o Just use a small screw driver and work the ring out in small increments at a time. It’s easy, only time I was scarred was removing the needle. That thing flew across the carport like a missile. Thought the dog was gona think it was a bug or something and eat it lol!!

It may be a week or two before I get the gauges ordered but once I get it back together I'll post up the pics!

Got them back together!! Painted the outside of the bezel as well as painting the inside white to help brighten them up some at night.

I did the same to mine except I left the inside stock green.  Would be interested to see how yours look at night with having painted the inside white?

There's another huge thread on this somewhere - I'll see if I can find it.  It has my own gauge restore in it too.

Here is a pic of them last night. Running the stock style bulbs for now. I like it. Newer looking but not to far from stock either.

How did you go about pressing the needle back in, that's the one thing I've searched for and can't seem to find.

Just press it back on while ensuring it is in the correct location. You can lightly set it and adjust before pushing it on all the way. Just be carful not to push it all the way down as it can contact the face plate screws.

Thanks for the overlay and plate purchase racinchase.  They turned out great.  They always look best with the transparent back plates.

Think some are worried about the process but its actually pretty easy if you take your time.

We will be sure to give you a discount if you decide to do another set.
