Honda CB keys, T key specifically
« on: December 10, 2012, 04:29:01 PM »
I have a large amount of original Honda keys and they are the T models. Same ones I have on both K1 models. I am curious what year the T keys go to for  CB 750's. Also, do they work for other model CB's?

T codes were used in the '60's & '70's.  They are precut? I could use a few....

You might have a look here. My K0 has a recessed ignition swithch but I never had a correct "plugged" key until I found this site. Bought two very reasonably.

Curious, what is a plugged key and what does it look like? I got a 74 with a key that isnt removeable from the ignition. Looks like a plunger.

The plugged key is a key with a plastic-like disc just above the cut combination. When inserted in the ignition switch the disc (plug) fit into a recess in the switch as I understand to protect against rain getting in. Not sure it worked as it was discontinued rather quickly. I don't have access to a pic of the key on my Kindle,  but could post one tomorrow if you are interested.

Thanks Bob, I am interested. I am going out to my 74 to see if thats what is put in the ignition. The key has a plastic disk like thing around the key but I can't get the key out. PO didnt know the deal behind it. I do not want to ruin it if it is indeed  recessed.

Yup that's a plugged key. Seems this has come up before here 's a previous post. The recessed ignition was not limited to sandcasts though. Mine 's a later diecast K0.

Tews - spray some lube in there and gently try to pull out. May be the wrong key.

Also check the key number against the number on the ignition for a match. If everything is stock th e forklock should match as well.

I am sure there are lots of keys around.
I worked at a dealership. When the new motorcycles arrived The came with two mirrors,
touch up paint, and 5 keys.

The customer was given 2 keys. Only the left hand mirror. And they were not given the touch up paint.

So we ended up with big boxes of right hand mirrors.
Big boxes of keys, and Big boxes of touch up paint.

The customer never was told about any of this.

It eventually went to the dump.

I complained to the state of Arizona and was basically blown off,
since i was only 19 years of age.

I've heard about the keys before but why give them only the one mirror?
