still having trouble deciding on a front end
« on: December 12, 2012, 01:48:32 PM »
my CB550 came with what appears to be the forks of a later CB750F, doesnt seem the rotor matches up, no brake discs either and im trying to decide where to go from here...

my first goal is to keep a wire wheel, my second goal is to improve performance of the the forks.. (are the race-tech emulators any good for this?), and my third goal would be to go with a dual front brake setup

im willing to go with the forks i have, change them back to 550 forks, or change them out entirely... but again, i need a compatible wire wheel with minimal machining work

one suggestion ive come across is just to simply swap a GL1000 front end with conversion bearings... another option would be to find a dual rotor wire wheel to fit in the forks i have now, if there is one... and i believe original 550 forks were set up for dual caliper, but no dual caliper models were made rendering that idea pointless, but i could be wrong

so given my three goals, what would you suggest?
