Mounting engine on an engine stand 550F
« on: December 12, 2012, 02:30:26 PM »
Hey there fellas, I've posted before about a trip we're taking in the spring/possibly summer cross-country and into Canada.  I'm going through everything now, and this past weekend attempted to mount my engine on a stand from Harbor Freight.

So...how the F*** do you do this???  I looked at it about a hundred different ways, and I'm still not sure where the hell this thing mounts to and from...and how.  Will just two bolts really hold this entire engine mounted to a stand while I take it apart??

Anyone ever done this before or have a picture of how they managed to get their engine affixed to this thing?

Thanks guys!

Mike

It can be done. You have to make some brackets out of angle iron. You'll also need to grab an assortment of nuts, bolts and washers to use as spacers. I've used some of the stock engine bolts and spacers, depending on the engine. I've used this stand and same brackets, in various configurations, to mount a CB500, CB550, CB650 and XS650 engine.
Look closely at the pics and you can see the brackets to get an idea.
