Chef

I was really sorry to read that you were in a wreck with your really sharp 750.  I'm glad you weren't seriously hurt.  I've really enjoyed following your project.  I should have posted sooner.  Keep us informed on the repairs.

hey thanks gto_ron! I am very happy I walked away as well. I am sourcing parts and have most of them covered from DSS and some other outlets. working on the big items like fender, frame, triple trees is the "fun" part. there will be updates and pictures. thanks for all the support :D

Im too lazy to walk 50 yards! Are 550 front rims the same as 750s? I have a perfect 550 front wheel!

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!

Good memory. I'm glad to get the right ones. I even kept my correct k1 reflectors I purchased but could not use on the later ears. Good thing!

His listing stated the "rpm gauge" was in another auction, but when I looked, it was not there.  Tews?

Shoot, I would have bought the tach myself. But I didn't really need it. He said it sold last night. Plus I need some good karma so I figured I would share it with Chef..... Tubes look real nice. He can even recoup some cost selling the parts he does not need..

I have full set of turn signals from a 1972 CB750. Never used them and don't need them. I do need to pull them down from the attic and take some pics. Not looking to get rich on them either ;)

Sorry the bike took a hit.  Hope you get it rebuilt soon.  I have a decent front fender.  If you are interested

Hey KC, I was wondering where you were. I am ok and that's the most important thing. I am going up to ATL tomorrow to hopefully pick out a frame from Bill Benton. The front fender and stays is really all I am missing. Some rust and nicks and dents are ok as long as I can get a decent polish on it. As long as it looks good from 20 feet away ;) sending you a pm

well it looks like the kindness of this forum has astounded me again. I have the difficult things sourced (fork lowers, front fender, stator cover). I am headed to atlanta to meet up at Bill Bentons house to pick out a new skeleton for Yolanda. Tews found me a killer deal on fork tubes and fork ears. Ed found me a good deal on triple trees too. I have the rest of my items coming to me from DSS.

now I just need to get all my parts, refinish them, strip down the old girl and put her on the new frame. this time I rebuilt a starter motor inside and out and tested it, it seems to rev up just fine. I am going to be putting in new starter clutch springs and making sure all is well on that end. hopefully this time when I put the new starter motor and OEM solenoid in.....I can actually start the thing with the button. short legs make kickstarting difficult :D

thanks for all of your support so far. it looks like insurance is taking care of the costs for me bike, so there is no stress on that end.

the only "small" issue I noticed is when my stator cover was smashed in it sheared off a bolt into the case. I have never had to remove one. I will be searching and reading up on methods to extract bolts from the case. pictures and updates as soon as I get parts in. thanks again everyone!

I would suggest drilling in to it with something small like 7/64 and then take a 1/8 and get it to just catch the bolt. When it catches reverse your drill and there is a good chance it will screw out given that it wasn't a seized bolt just sheared.

Or get some small left hand bits and watch in amazement as it easily screws out. Don't buy a screw extractor, they suck @ss.

Thanks bj I will look into this. Just what I needed to hear :)

I received my fork lowers and triple trees from ed hauser. Ordered my front rim and spokes. Have my fork tubes and ears on the way. Headed up to charleston soon to get a k1 frame with title. Will be refinishing parts soon, then pulling everything off one frame and back onto the new refinished frame. Will be putting in my rebuilt starter, replacing starter clutch parts and praying I can finally use the start button ;)

Expect the stator cover in the next day or two. It's rough, but your doing the chrome exchange anyway.
