I believe it was vintageconnections or something like that bought their crimp tool and after destroying about 10 bullet connectors trying to figure it out its magical! the connectors are cheap the crimp tool is a bit of money.

Thanks for the kind works guys! I have my license in hand. Now I just
Need to get it registered and insurance. I am very nervous about registering. I know in GA I need a police officer to come and verify my vin. I'm so nervous about that. I got a nice bill of sale with the bike and the guy did not seem shady, but I have this fear that when the VIN is checked it would come up as stolen and then all that money I dumped into the bike would all be gone. There really wasn't a way to my knowledge to check the vin beforehand so it's like a gamble. I don't think it happens often but it would be heartbreaking.

Congratulations on the license.

I'm a fan of Vintage Connectors. I am due to restock my box of bullet connectors soon. It's always a good thing to have them on hand.

I highly recommend the tool they sell for removing the spade connectors from the plastic holders too. I have used it several times to rebuild connectors on my Goldwing as well as a couple of my cars.

Not being in the system may not be that bad. In WI, if a bike hasn't been registered in the past 5 yrs it falls out of the system. If you have a title on hand you simply bring it to the DMV and get it in the system.

If you do not have a title I would contact your DMV and ask the steps to obtain one.  I would tell them it's registered in another state like New Hampshire. Tell them you have the registration but lost the title. See if it is suffice to title it with just a registration in your state.

Did the seat latch come today?

hey tews, the latch DID come. the whole shebang. springs and all. I'm going t have to cook something and send it up to you! I cant wait to get it on my seat when it gets here.

in Ga you CANT even TRY to title a bike older than 1986. if it doesnt have one already that I can get at, I can't title it myself, but the upside is I don't need it at all. its a very easy process. police comes out and verifies VIN and bill of sale, writes me some paperwork. I take that, the bill of sale, my license and some money to the registration/tag office and get it registered and a license plate. then set up my insurance. thats about it. I am not really concerned with a title at this time. just nervous about the VIN. I overthink and worry too much.

I wouldn't worry about it, the vin it is. For peace of mind. I would play dumb with DMv on the phone and say you misplaced the title. Give her the vin to pull it up. If she states its not in the system that way it most likely hasn't been reported stolen at one time.

That's just me though. I over think a lot. I've gone through the no title, police inspection and bonded title here in WI.

I cant just call and ask to check a VIN of a bike I am trying to buy from a guy on craigslist? that part is/was true, I just should have done it five months ago. I mean if I cant check a VIN before I buy it, they are expecting everyone to gamble with potential stolen vehicles? there has to be a way I can call and ask to check a VIN before I go in and register. they don't have to know me from Adam, I am just "a guy trying to buy a used old motorcycle on craigslist and want to make sure it checks out."

I do not want to present any false information, thats for sure. just want to check the VIN before I get a cop to come check it out.

I definitely will. one of these days when I'm not working 12 hours with no break, I will ;)
next week is our biggest week of the entire year. we have the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf tournament at our golf course here. all of us in the kitchen put in about 90 hours each that week. the hotel brings in ungodly amounts of money, so I probably wont be doing much of anything. my day of was this past sunday, and I wont have another for about 14 more days. just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming

well my seat is here! man is it gorgeous. the pins/washers/safety pins came too!

popped on the hooks that tews sent me and done. easy. very sturdy and comfortable. I also purchased another K1 seat and am going to be reshaping the foam and cover to lower it for my short legs. I want to have a nice stock one though for when I get more comfortable with the bike, and in the event I sell it. enjoy

chain is finally on the way, as well as black 7mm spark plug wires, and some shrink tubing to hide the grey pamco wiring since I am running it up the front. when I get the chain on I can finally see if I can break the clutch plates free. if that doesnt work I have to save a few dollars and am going to purchase new clutch plates and get in there.

DSS got back to me about the switch the other day and sent out another one free of charge, I promise to check it quickly this time. good customer service, considering I bought it 2 months ago. Will use them again.

I was fooling around with my engine guard bars and they came with one larger double threaded bolt to replace the one underneath. that was fine but the upper bolts on both sides were too short to accommodate the thickness of the tabs on the engine guards. found a seller on ebay where I could get the m10 bolt in a 90mm size (left side) and 55mm (right side). I would not feel comfortable trying to use the original bolts because there is less grab into the nuts. they are on their way too. thats a last button up item anyway.

I am entertaining the idea of buying shorter shocks and lifting the forks an inch or so to compensate and keep "some" of the stock geometry. I know it all changes but until I get comfortable riding this bike I want to be lower to the ground. my legs are short, I am nervous. when I get more comfortable I plan on returning things to their stock geo configuration.

oh yeah, I didnt technically buy a K1 seat, I bought a ducktail for a k0 but I love the look of it and it was cheaper ($250 to my door) metal seat pan and great fit and finish!
