hey guys, talked with my insurance claims adjuster and they are totaling out the bike. Damage is "$4000 in parts". Its of course not actually that much but its going to be $1000-$1500 to fix on my end. Still waiting to hear back what my "buy back" offer will be. hoping to get enough back to buy the right replacement parts...ugh.
things I definitely need to get her back to the way she was.
-chromed stator cover (have not checked for stator/magneto damage inside)
-left engine guard bar (if I can't get a single I need a pair)
-front fender and stays
-left and right forks (not sure if they are bent of its just the fork tubes, but something definitely bent)
-left and right fork tubes
-left and right fork ears
-left K1 control
-front DID rim, tube, rim strip, spokes
-brake rotor? (have to test for true. it does not look warped at all though)
-K1 handlebars
-front brake lever
-right passenger peg L bracket
-right front and rear turn signals
-right rear turn signal bracket
-possibly triple trees....I see no cracks or bends but I am not sure how to test. I know the K1 upper triple is the hardest to come by, and am hoping that they are ok. any help in testing this out is appreciated
-frame....I think I just want to be safe and replace the frame. the neck does not look bent but it took a fast shock and surely it has weakened. I don't know how to test for it so I think the best route is to replace it. anyone have a spare frame within 250 miles of Savannah, GA that I can get for cheap?
that's my list so far. you have all seen my build and the polish that has gone into it so its going to be difficult to have to do some of that again not to mention painting new fork ears (so GLAD I kept a new can of my paint!). if anyone can help with parts or leads on parts that would be great. tomorrow I will be starting to source some parts from cmsnl, yamiya, NOS, OEM, ebay etc.
thanks again for all of the support. it hurts my heart to see my bike sitting in the garage. its been the clearest, most perfect weather we've had all year this week.....of course
