76 Hybrid Cafe

Finally making some progress on a 76 K model.
Changes as follows
76 GL1000 front end, stainless steel brake lines
78 Oil Tank
78 Swingarm (rebuilt by Hondaman)
77 F Gas Tank
Clubman bars with rebuilt switchgear and 82 master cylinder
Steel cafe seat with stock hinges and lock
Excel 18" wheels
Rebuilt engine with Wisco 836 pistons, Webcam 63A, HD studs, chain
Rebuilt 78 392 head, valves, seals, springs, keepers, rockers, etc.
CR 29 Carbs
Hondaman ignition
Tarozzi rearsets

Still have a lot to do including finish wiring, seat cover, lights, carbs, paint, etc.

Thanks to everyone on this forum who contributed (unknowingly) to my build. There is a wealth of information on the site using the search function.

Ill try and post pics as I complete.

You managed to make the swinging seat look good. I'm very impressed !!

EDIT: I hope that didn't come across as a backhanded compliment. Your seat looks really good along with the rest of the bike so far. It's just often bump seats using any sort of stock mounting hardware end up looking to big or something.

Thanks, I wanted to use a small cafe seat and still have access to the battery as stock. I think it will all work, still have a little bracing to do were I cut the side of the seat for the lock pin. should look OK when I get it padded and painted.

Finished up the wiring harness last night and mounted a tail light and license plate holder.
Not my first choice, wanted to run one under the seat between the turn signals but not sure if theres enough room so I went with this, may change it as its not really the look I was after.

Also picked up a left side cover from Joker Machine, nice piece. I plan on running the right side with just the oil tank for now since I changed it to the 78 F style tank.

Hey dude. If you're looking for easy to mount small signals and tail light stuff. Check out bikerhighway.com
I'm running a pair of 2"x1/4" led lights that go red orange and Hilo for tail brake and signals.
They're on my thread on here cb750 redeux
We have to run horizontal liscence plates in Canada which is a total drag cause I like the side plate thing.

Got to spend some time on the bike yesterday and got a few things done.
Having some issues with blowing the main fuse. When I first hooked up the battery to check the wiring everything seemed fine (I did not operate the starter but all lights, etc worked as they should). Now when I turn on the key the main fuse blows, im a little baffeled but have ordered a new ATC fuse block and will try and trace the short after its installed.

Picked up an idle cable for the CR's and made a bracket to mount on the right side.



Honda VLX steel front fender, fits nice, just need to fab a couple of spacers and move the rear bolt hole.

Ground the fins off the header mounting flanges, I'm going to paint them black and use them to mount up an old but in decent shape Mac exhaust that I have. I'm just about at my budget on this one or would love to pick up a new set of pipes, maybe later after its all sorted out. Thought about buying Carpys replicas and having them Jet Hot coated in polished sterling, almost looks like chrome but $300 for the exhaust and $215 for the coating + shipping is more than I want to lay out for now.


Headers without end cap. might run stock Mac baffle or pick up a 2 1/2" aftermarket piece to mount on the header.


Mounted the carbs, lots of pushing and pulling. had to do the throttle cables twice, had them backwards first time.

Nope, just went over it with a palm sander after the paint cured.

Guy name Dave has seats on eBay under the name Hot Rod Metal. I send him my measurements and he made the seat.
