Damn, further to travel now. But the bright side is i will get to visit my neices while i'm down that way. Being with family for me will be well worth the trip beyond dollars and cents. Funny how things work out.

Holy crap! That's my backyard (well, within two hours of my backyard)! Doubt I'll have anything to race by then, but I should be able to be there for moral support.  :D

Well, it's much farther than Valdosta is from Atlanta and my sister who I would miss BUT I do have a buddy in Brandon (Tampa). There are beaches in Florida too. Another diving buddy in Cape Coral with a 50' boat. Let's see, place to stay, beaches, diving, oh yeah another buddy in north Miami, rum, palm trees, bikinis.....   I KNOW Wilbur understands. WTF, I'm in  ;D ;D ;D Hell, Sam and I could even hit up the retirement community ladies and get in some of their wills   ;) ::)
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Racers :  The guy who runs the tracks starting line at GMS was the same guy who ran Bradenton for years = good news my girlfriends cousin lives 22 miles from the track, kill two birds with one stone.  A good friend of mine and a  Great HARLEY racer WILLIE HERSHBURGER lives 10 mile from the gate and will bring a herd of fast HARLEYS to this event. We rented that track for a MSP-MPS  " FROM THE CRATE TO THE 8'S IN 8 HOURS " on a BUSA.  Track can hold PRO-MOD CARS, but use to have steel guard rails which I think they changed to concrete.  RUNDA-SUNDAY is a big event at this track with bikes and outlaw car and is in JOHNNIE TURBO'S back yard............... er er er  white sandy beachs and WALMART  [ GULF COAST ]  HOP-SKIP-JUMP from the tracks front gate. One of AHDRA big races a few years back.

Its been a long time since i visited this track as a spectator. I never had a chance to race there so this will be the first time. Looks like an 8 hour drive is in the making for me. Wow, the things we do for the love of the sport.

Time to start rounding up a Florida based pit crew!!!!!

SGMP announces they will continue to host The SGMP’s Manufacturers Spring Cup, April 5th – 7th, and also The SGMP’s Manufacturers World Cup, November 8th – 10th , for the 2013 season and beyond.

This event started here at SGMP with the AMA (American Motorcycle Association) in 2007 and today has become the largest drag racing motorcycle event in America! In 2010 SGMP invited nine manufacturers to help create this now amazing event, say Tim Fleming General Manager and Co-founder of The Manufacturers Cup. He also went on to say, “We have enjoyed the challenges of creating these cup events but in any great venture there will be disagreements on the direction the event should go. So at this time South Georgia Motorsports Park will continue to move forward with these events in spring and fall.”

“We would like to thank The Manufactures involved in making these events such a success. (Fast By Gast, PR Factory, Schnitz Racing, Orient Express, MPS, MRE, Star Racing and MTC) “We wish them all the best in their future events,” says Kim & Rowland Wood owners and operators of SGMP.

Valdosta had midnight curfew on Saturday and 10 pm on Sunday. They can't run everything at Valdosta with those curfews in effect. I'll bet that Brandenton runs later and gives the schedule more flexibility. If it costs the Cup group less money to stay, well so much the better.

The Cup commitee is playing both sides to get what they want. The managers of SGMP probably upped the price of rental again thinking they were holding the Man Cup group hostage. Knowing those manufacturers, they likely looked elsewhere and Bradenton came on the radar. I'm sure the folk at SGMP realized  they had no leverage and backed down quickly to keep from loosing this very lucrative event. Cudos to the Cup group for playing the game so well. Hahahaha. And of course the curfew came into play but i bet the track agreed to pay the fine if it comes down to late night racing to keep the vent at SGMP.

Man Cup 2016 in Memphis was very light turnout. Odds were as good as they were going to get for a SOHC to collect SOHC/4 contingency money in Street ET, but it was not to be.  :(

>Now Frank came to race! POPS was in attendance and ready to pay any SOHC/4 Honda rider that could win, and I thought for sure Frank was going to collect. He made it all the way to the final four on Saturday, the closest yet! It sure was cool watching him beat Joey G. both days!

Got to meet fellow member Medyo Bastos and his son. He has got some wicked cool choppers parked in the garage, looking forward to seeing one on the road soon! With a little encouragement maybe we can get him to update his build threads more often...  ;)  ;D

Weather was hot and humid, but we were blessed with mostly cloudy skies most of the day Saturday and for part of Sunday, so thankfully it wasn't as hot as it could have been. Certainly wasn't as hot as I was when I saw my fuel tank caved in! If the tank had been leaking and prevented me from racing I may have required medical attention...  :o  ;)  ;D

>V-twin ET was the class with the best odds with only three entries. I thought about going and renting a Harley for the weekend!

At least the track was in pretty good shape.

As always, it's great to meet up with fellow forum members and talk smack between races. Bench racing at it's best!

The ride home was more trouble than it should have been. Parked at a rest area catching a nap, engine running and AC on. A driver came over and tapped on the window awaking me to alert me to the growing puddle of fuel under the truck. It was a pretty steady stream of fuel so I shut the engine off and the leak stopped. The fuel was running down from the top of the fuel tank, and only leaked while running, so a fuel line under pressure has to be the culprit, right? Well, after cutting out the carpet, and cutting out the floorboard to get to the fuel line connections at the top of the tank, upon restarting the engine there was no leak! WTF! Continued home without any further drama.

Test and tune at the local track here I come!  8)

Check your fuel-return line...................

Yep, both the pressure line and return lines were exposed when I opened the floor, but it was so hot, and it took so long, that all of the fuel had evaporated. When I started the truck none of the lines or fittings showed any sign of leakage. I will be dropping the tank and inspecting everything before the next trip.

Race in September is at the Rock. November returns to SGMP. I know Dave doesn't like Rockingham so I guess we'll see you guys at the nostalgia race in commerce or at the finals.
