Topic: 750 With the highest tech/modern chassis?

What is the sohc 750 with the most modern high tech/performance chassis anyone here  has seen? I seem to remember a nighthawk with a sohc engine that looked really modern.

I suppose you could shove a CB750 engine in just about anything if you wanted to Don, but why would you bother?

A modern engine of the same capacity will produce twice the BHP with less weight, better reliability and much better ground clearance, (no big arsed alternators poking out the side etc) so why would you remove it to replace it with an old "Dinosaur Four"?

Anyway, an OEM frame can be braced and fitted with modern components to make it handle and stop better than anything built "back in the day", without losing the classic CB750 look. When I finished this build, I was surprised at how many old farts came up to me to compliment the bike and tell me that they had one "Just like it" back in the day............ Cheers, Terry.

Yeah, what Terry said, I toyed with the idea of putting a later model engine in a SOHC frame for a while after seeing a K2 with a GSXR750 engine in it....  Terry, i still think you should have kept that bike....   I know I know, a bigger shed first....

Just because, I've got an F1 triple disc and (my opinion) the best sounding exhaust ever, a K0 with a braced frame and 836. I see all the talk of adding forks and swing arms and wondered if anyone has taken it to the next level. Not because it makes sense, just because we love these things. Personally, I'd try to make it appear somewhat original.

Yes, i see your point, why not is a good enough reason sometimes...   I also thought about getting a stock looking frame made up from Chrome Moly.....

Actually the stock geometry isn't that bad at all but if you were having a frame built from scratch it wouldn't be too hard to "upgrade" the geometry. There's some ultra fast cb750's running round here in historic racing and Cyclex's extremely fast Honda race bike basically retained stock geometry....

Don, I agree with everything said but at the same time believe you can do better than stock with a modern purpose built design. I know Denis pretty well and his work is impecable, check him out.

I guess the question could be what is the best but not neccessairly vintage 750 chassis and suspension. Or maybe what in your opinion, is the best 750 ever.  There are some awesome bikes on our own build thread.

As far as the best 750 ever, The CB is up there but i would also say the first GSXR750's, in a way they were like the first CB's, miles ahead of the competition , brilliant engine, great chassis light and fun to ride, as long as you were no taller than about 6 foot....
