Carb rebulding ?
« on: July 12, 2006, 06:59:19 PM »
Alright, I know this topic has been discussed a thousand times on this forum but I can't seem the find the specific answer I need by searching.

I am currently rebuilding the carbs from the 1976 CB750.  Is it me or are the carbs from the K6 a little different.  For example, my carbs fuel mix screw has a tab that only allows it to turn one revolution and will not screw out.  Most of the carb rebuild kits I have found are for the K1-K5, or from david silver they have one for the K1, K2 and K6 I think.  The kits from David Silver are a bit pricey and I can't tell if the kits have new needle jets or just the needles?  I don't really mind spending the money but I want to make sure the kit will have everything I need.  Any help would be great.

Try these people for the correct carb kits at a decent price:

I don't see the K6 listed, so either contact them directly or match up what your bike's jetting specs are to one of their kits.

If your air screws are like the ones on my '76 400F, the reason you can only turn them one turn is because there is a cap on the screw that limits its rotation. It was put there for emissions control purposes. The cap is plastic and pops right off the metal screw.

Not that I'd suggest monkeying with the bike's emissions, of course. Wouldn't be right...

Thanks flatblack.
I found a rebuild kit on that site for the 1971-1976.  Kit #KH-0134N  Good price too!
I didn't know those were just caps on the air screws?  I'll take a look at that tonight.
