Good boots
« on: December 22, 2012, 08:19:36 AM »
I am in the market for some nice boots. Ones that will hopefully be my last. I need them to be cool enough to wear in the summers on 90 degree days yet warm enough to shovel in.. May not be possible but I am looking for some assistance.

Oh yeah, I had my achillies reattached prior and can not have the boot hug my ankle on one foot. My riding shoe is a pair of leather New balance! Time for an upgrade.

You won't go wrong with these superb boots.  Summer or winter, they do the job.  Utterly waterproof and supremely comfortable.  I have owned mine for about 10 years with no discernable wear evident.

Gasolina have pretty good name:

My wife got me hunting boots from http://www.russellmoccasin.com/; Russel makes motorcycle boots too and I would be inclined to believe they are as great as my hunting pair.

I get my boots from Duluth trading co. Best I have ever had, worth every penny. I still bust out my old Die Hard boots from time to time (another best ever boot). Thats it. You buy yourself a pair of either of them and you are good to go. Anything else is a total waste.....IMO.

Red Wings or Chippewa Boots from our neck of the woods. I have worn my Red Wings 988 motorcycle boots nearly everyday for 7 years and they are the most comfortable boots I have ever owned. Most of their boots are made in Red Wing, MN but unfortunately my 988's are now made in China so I will not buy them again. http://www.redwingshoes.com/motorcycle-boots

Turns out.....nobody has anything bad to say about them. schnikies. Buy em up, and I hope they work out for your ouchy piggies. Merry ho ho Tews man.

yup...I got some funky '70's zipper boots with leather soles.  Not really safe to ride in...put your foot down at a stop light and almost lose it cuz your foot slips.  I had some basic combat boots that kicked ass for riding in...got 'em when I was 15, they just reached the point of no return last year(I'm 41)  Maybe check out some Doc Martens...somebody on here was selling some recently.
If it works good, it looks good...

I pulled the trigger. Picked me up a pair of Redwing 2156 hikers. I intended to try on a pair to hive me n idea what size and  style  to buy a pair of used ones off eBay. Glad I went in as 10 were way to small and that size is what I was planning to buy. Picked out a few styles, tried them on and these fit like a shoe. Stiff but figured that since they are new I figured they will only become softer. Redwing gives you free laces, free stitching for repairs, free cleaning and conditioning for the life of the boot, free polishing with red wing cream, and free computerized fittings for the life of the boot. All in all a win win. More expensive but I figure they will last forever. They are currently being treated with some boot oil.

About 20 years ago when I still worked as a FedEx driver, one of my delivery customers at a shoe store turned me on to Ecco's. Best, most comfortable boot I have ever worn, IMO. I still wear them today. They were the first ankle high boots I ever wore that didn't feel like I was strapping concrete blocks to my feet. A little pricey though....

239 plus tax. I was looking to spend 100 tops but these feel like shoes and the basically indestructible warranty to replace was the key to buying.

I've already established on the site how I'm an idiot. Now I feel as I I'm becoming a metrosexual. Taking pics of boots. Jeesh, what have I become?

These boots after 3 coats of boot oil came out how I wanted them to in regard to color.

Boots were so comfy from start that I was worried I got the wrong size. I called up the store this am. They told me to come in and get my feet measured by their computer.

Ends up the boots are the right size and are simply that comfortable. I know it's been only a day but if you want a boot that fits like some shoes these are them.

Quick pic of them after fully being oiled an darkened.

Alright I'm done posting bout the boots! Thanks all for the advice.

H&H tank boots.  9", All leather, oil-resistant stitched sole.  Got them in 2003 and have walked hundreds of miles in them, ridden more.  They're not waterproof anymore, but unless I stand in a puddle they don't leak.  Best $90 I ever spent.

AND - they don't stink.  At all.
