New guy, but not a noob.
« on: January 08, 2013, 11:21:51 AM »
Hi folks. Name here is Red.

Ben here, and done this about twenty and thirty years ago. This board, and others like it, are a wonderful resource. Back then it was books and magazines was all ya got.  ;D

I've been a SOHC owner/wrench three times now. 78K that I put nearly 90K on, and had down to the bare frame twice, a 77F that I made extensive, and scary fast mods to, and now this neglected 77K comes into my life. Clear title, just abandoned. It looks to be, for the most part, complete. (Air box and chain guard were found nearby) Cost was nada.  Sorry for the funky cell phone pics.

Compression is even, and I remember hearing it run about 6 years ago. Clutch is stuck, and the front caliper has not quite seized on the rotor. I plan on working from one end to the other and freshen it up to safe operating status. Other than a new seat cover, I don't plan on replacing anything not operationally necessary. I *will* clean it up though. Right now it looks like Swamp Thing on wheels.

It hasn't been streeted for at least 15 years according to the license tabs. When it rolls again, it's name will be Lazarus.
