It's all very interesting. Just about all I know about these bikes I have learned from reading item descriptions on eBay. I never knew they had a red plug on the early keys.

If I sold one of my children then I could afford it.

I  could hang it around my neck on a bit of string at the next bike meet. Unfortunately, no one would know that what I was wearing was rarer that Gucci, Cartier or Tiffany.

Bugger.     >:(

Good grief! If he gets anywhere near the $599, it just confirms my belief that my bike is worth more in parts than as a whole.  ;D
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Jeeeesus! Who´s crazy enough to even consider it?

Hmm, then again, if I´d sell the Caferacer I could afford to buy at least 3 or maybe 4 of those "red-plug" ignition keys. ::)

-there are a lot of the poor old girls broken up on eBay for that very reason. I've seen many. The person has broken the bike and then puts up 50 or more auctions. Shame, but a fact of life that the pieces are greater than the whole.

I've seen those ignitions for sale from specialty shops for $750 plus shipping, so $600 is like it's on sale.  ::)

More proof that I need to find one with the rare parts already on it.

If he does, I will promptly start scraping out Sandcast stuff. At that rate I could pay over $6,000 a bike and still make out like a bandit.

I thought I knew CB750s and I never heard of a red plug. I thought very early CB750s had clear plugs, then black, then standard key type. But red plugs makes sense, if it's real, better confirm it with Honda first. You learn new things every day.

$599? No thanks! I thought I was paying too much for my black-plug one for $20! I'm no El Cheapo, but I'm still cheap.

I guess you have to pay off the Porsche Cayanne somehow, Right? ::) or at least the gas.

I will say that it looks to be in real good condition.

This auction is for what indeed appears to be a 1973 cb 750 k3, but ORIGINAL it ISN"T. The k3 never came in Planet Blue Metallic (the k5 did), with a chromed chain guard, or had a speedometer like the one it has on it. Since the speedometer isn't original, the mileage shouldn't be either. K3's never had the fuel petcock on the left hand side with a single fuel line(the k5 did). Another example of someone cobbling up another 750
from parts off other bikes, lying about the originality, and driving the market of the 750 into the stratosphere.
Someone should put this guy on the spot and ask him about all the discrepencies, tires, ignition switch placement, grips. Well, at least the seat appears to be a new factory replacement(or is it off the same k5
that the tank and side covers came off of? The pattern of the vinyl is k4-6, NOT k3. I think for the price he's
asking, (TOO MUCH IMO even if it was original) the buyer damn well deserves an ORIGINAL, AS ADVERTISED.

And he claims to have had an offer of $10,000. And the next bid would take it. I'd say that's blatant shilling. And as stated in the post above there are many non-original K3 items on this bike. A very clean CB, but a diamond she ain't.

Getting back to TC's original post for a moment, I've dealt with both the seller and the high bidder and they're both professional CB750 parts dealers, obviously operating at a much higher level than us mere wage-earners. (or pensioners....)

Good blokes though, I sold a couple of NOS points plates to Sanguss (German bloke) and bought a couple of small NOS parts from Joe Marks, and both deals went well, with no BS. Incidentally, the recessed ignition switch was common on several early Honda CB's, CL's and SL's. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Yes, I have dealt with Joseph Marks at times..what I am is a small player and a wage slave. There are many buyers out there who think nothing of spending big, big, (In my terms) money on parts because they are either rich, keen or educated about part prices. To me $599 US is a lot of money, to a lot of buyers it is just beer money, nothing of consequence. Joseph has over 30 CB750's...He isn't on the forum as far as I know although I invitited him at one stage. I think he might be Vic World in disguise but it's just a guess....???
