WOW. I like the added sugar technique. This Yukon Jack is so frigging sweet to begin with though. FYI the bottle of Johnny walker blue that I was referencing is something that my buddy has. I have been a beer only guy for a long time....then I tried Johnny Walker Black and....it clicked. this. is. goooood.
As if beer is for working and whiskey is for relaxing.

Thanks for all the great info boys.

whisky vs whiskey? I had no idea.
Yukon is an aperitif....like Galliano, Cointreau, Drambuie, Irish mist etc. They are all sweet.

Unlike some of you guys, I prefer to try differant types rather than the same ol.

So I saw this Texas Crown at my local liquer store, thought I would try it. Turns out it is Canadian!
And have a bottle of Knob Creek as a back up.

Like to shoot it out of these fancy glasses the wife bought...

If you boys are going to sweeten it up you may as well put a sprig of fresh mint in it and make a Mint Julep
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

And slap on some training wheels and water wings, this is about real whisk(e)y drinkin'!
You might as well buy some damn soco and get if over with if yer gonna be pollutin' yer whisky with sugar!

Back in the day I worked on a project named DRAMBUIE, to my big surprise it is also a name for Scotch.

The project was a major PITA and when i tried the Scotch, I didn't like it either  >:(

Drambuie is a liqueur, not really a scotch.  It's just whisky based.

Well I like both Whiskey and Whisky, at the mo I've got Jameson's Irish Whiskey, Makers Mark Whiskey, The Famous Grouse Whisky, Johnny Walker Black Whisky and Chivas Regal Whisky. (Santa was very good to me....)

Drink it straight, on ice, with Coke, who cares? The main thing is that you enjoy it. Cheers! Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

OK. so I am one night away from finishing the Yukon Jack. Had a glass last night and the thrill was gone. I was almost bothered by its sweetness, when the day before I liked it.

This weekend I will pick up a another make...any suggestions for what is the next step up? Or what is the "Budweiser" of whiskey?

I am no authority, but maybe the Makers Mark is kind of the Bud of whiskeys?

I'd say Seagrams is the Budweiser of whiskey, Makers is more of the Heineken.

Or grab a bottle of Crown Royal in the cutesy little bag it comes it.

I've been toying with the idea of making some home brew but I'm worried the neighbors might think I'm cooking some meth and call the authorities.

I've been toying with the idea of making some home brew but I'm worried the neighbors might think I'm cooking some meth and call the authorities.

I built my own still Don, but threw it in the trash when I discovered that if the temps are out by only a few degrees I'd be making poison rather than whisk(e)y. A friend of mine's brother made his own whisk(e)y and died at 55, and was slowly going blind before he passed. No-one put 2 and 2 together until after he died.

Even though I have to pay twice as much as you guys do for good quality booze, (I was trying to work out how a bunch of cheap arse SOHC guys could afford some of the high faluting booze you lot were waffling on about until I remembered that little nugget) I'd rather pay thru the nose for good booze that won't send me blind or kill me.

What's the "Bud" of Whiskey? Surely it'd be Jim Beam or Jack Daniels, yeah? Cheers, Terry. ;D
