Sold where?

Does anybody know something about CB750A Hondamatic on Japan domestic market?

Past bikes - Honda: SL350, CX650C, CB900C, CB1000C, CM450A; Kawasaki: several 1972 750 H2's; Suzuki: TC90J.

Bikes I want: CX650ED, a mid-sized japanese V-twin with ABS.

The more I search, the more I conclude that this was indeed a Japanese model.

I haven't found any specs yet - although I would be surprised if the model differed mechanically . . . .

Finally got home to my files.

I never paid a great deal of attention to the picture.  But upon closer review, I see the following differences (I bet there are more):

  • painted front/rear fenders
  • rear turn signals mount with the taillight

I like the side bags, too.

According to a book by Roy Bacon called "Honda The early classic motorcycles"

Speaking about the CB750A he says "This was in design and model form as early as 1973 and was coded the Honda EARA Hondamatic at first."

I really like the painted fenders and rear shock covers.  Great pictures

According to Classic Bike, June 2004, the EARA was marketed in Japan for 1977.

Based on other internet hits, it is obvious that the bike was exported outside of Japan too, although Japan is likely the primary market for the EARA bikes.

This matic is advertised as being a 1980 model. Very interesting since rhey were only made to 78be for the US
