After trying to order a paint chip from VMR with no luck I am now wondering if anyone has any paint codes for Honda's metallic green colors from the 70's? Or a newer paint that matched up closely to the old colors? I was trying to get Tyrolean Green but any of the other metallic's will work.

Unfortunately Honda did not publish any paint codes with a supporting formula for their motorcycles until the early 1980’s. However, Honda did publish paint codes & formulas for their 1960-1970 automobiles, but that doesn’t help the vintage bike owners.

Back in the day when you wanted to repaint the factory color, Honda sold you a can of pre-mixed paint. The pre-mixed paint can code for Tyrolean green metallic was G-39MC. This is an example of what a (obsolete) can of Honda pre-mixed paint looks like:

Ive bought those little cans of Honda paint on Ebay more than once..sometimes theres enough liquid paint still left in them to take to the paint store and get it matched..the thing they used here is called *THe Prophet*...looks like a handheld scanner of sorts that *reads*the paint and prints out all the mixing instructions..worth a shot maybe..

Ya I tried that when the original paint was on the tank but it was too faded just got the closest color i could find?

But - these are not the greens you are looking for.

ct70paint.com is actually VMR paints andthe other site seems to cater towards small honda bikes, thanks anyway
