What's best for these CB bikes? I live in California and would like to see what you guys think?

You could be ducking for cover starting an oil thread.....

Synthetics are ok as long as you get one without friction modifiers, the old wet clutches don't like the slippery oils.... As long as you change your oil regularly any good oil will do....

I've read that synthetics have a larger temperature tolerance and have a longer life than conventional oils. I assume these bikes were built for conventional oil but maybe senthetic is better for engine but not to sure about clutch. The bikes design is really odd in that the clutch shares same oil as engine.

You only have to use oil if you're running filter pods.

coming right up stevo,,a wet clutch is not odd or uncommon at all,castrol rx super 15/40 diesel oil.

Is the Castrol to JASO MA spec? (for motorcycle wet clutch)
Shell Rotella has been JASO certified since at least Jan 2011

I use Mobil 1 4t 10w40 full synthetic on 550 engine, about 100 miles so far on fresh top end rebuilt, clutch holding up just fine.

Castrol 10w40 regular 4 stroke on 750 engine, 20 miles since oil change, clutch seems fine too.

I use Amsoil motorcycle oil in the "modern" touring bikes and Shell Rotella T in the old bikes. Canola oil for the popcorn.

The only way to determine if everything is "all right" is to do oil testing over a long period.
I love these people that say "I used XYZ brand in my last oil change and no problems"
Really? What do you expect to have happen? The engine isn't going to suddenly blow up! Unless you used Canola oil....
It's the long term wear that we don't see.
Now where is that popcorn

If you watch at about 2:30 minutes in this video you will see a Honda will happily run on old cooking oil, it takes much more to destroy the bike, so in conclusion Synthetic or Regular it doesn't matter as long as it is slippy.

If you expect something to happen, it will happen. You know why? Because of one stupidity and ignorance on how they ride their bikes. Ride it the way its supposed to be ridden, maintain it like the way it's supposed to be maintained.

List goes on.... Want more? Google it. I'm sure it won't be problem, I just put in since my last oil change. "Long term wear that we don't see?" I love it. How long you need? Many of us would move on with new toys or be flipping these bikes for profit before you would actually see problems.

Don't forget omega-3 fish oil, good for your health. Take it everyday and hope to see your health improve
