Just picked up a 73 cb500 yesterday after 9 hours drive round trip. Tinkering with maintenance and adjustment today, what oil should I use? Hmm......

I believe theaters use peanut oil.  I asked the kid behind the counter and that is what he said.  I declare it fact after this exhaustive research.  OK, what oil to use in a SOHC ? I like the oil that is on sale, or free. How do you get free oil?  When I buy a project it always comes with a crankcase full of free oil.  I have done this with outboard motors, cars, trucks, and the occasional weed whacker, although the weed whacker oil has to be "reclaimed" by letting the gasoline evaporate.  (petrol for you wankers) I do know one thing, if you put 2 stroke oil into the crankcase of a 4 stroke lawn mower you will get to see the piston through a hole in the crankcase in a few minutes running time.  I hope this settles the oil controversy.......... Thanks for the info guys.... Bike seems to perform well with synthetic but haven't tried it with conventional yet. Replacing head gasket tomorrow and clutch work. Its going to be a good day.... Can't wait to take some insane photos with my ride as soon as she's looking and behaving her best.

No Bob,I am not a camera collector per say,put that up as a pun. An antique dealer friend of mine has as one of his specialties good knowledge on antique and older cameras and have been impressed with some of his sales results.  Are you into the old camera/photography scene ?

Funny, this projection of sarcasm. I myself am not ware of any sarcasm. It was just a question. For instance: I do not know the CB360, whether it has cam bearings or not. The only thing I know for sure is the 500/550 don't have them. See? Sarcasm? To much honour. Could it be your diet of popcorn?

Not a collector though I have several Nikons dating to the 60's and a relatively new 4x5 view cam. I guess I 'm one of a few remaining film shooters. I prefer black and white actually.
